My Goodworths 2
Up

Here's a list of more or less everything I know so far about "my" line of Goodworths. The information has come from a large variety of sources, but there is also currently some guesswork in here. All locations are in the West Riding of Yorkshire (WRY), England, unless stated otherwise.

The Hatfield parish registers suggest that John Goodworth (1769-1839) was the son of John  Goodworth (1734-1810), butcher, Hatfield, and Elizabeth Pettinger (about 1729-1815), but I feel the need for a bit more info. on that one. I'd also guess that John (1734-1810) was the son of Charles Goodworth (about 1700-1778), butcher,Hatfield, and Sarah Say (about 1703-1789).

John's will, probate 7 Dec 1839:
Executors are Richard Schofield of Hatfield, farmer, and Thomas Gillott.
"Eldest son Thomas is amply provided for by means of a certain estate situate at Balne in the parish of Snaith which descends to him as heir at law of his late mother deceased". He also gets £5.
The three daughters Ann Maria GOODWORTH, Elizabeth GOODWORTH and Susannah wife of Thomas BROWNLOW each get £40
Everything else is divided between his 4 younger sons John, Francis, Samuel and William Henry and the 3 daughters.
Witnesses are William THORPE of Thorne, attorney at law, Wm HEPWORTH and Thos LISTER, clerks.
m. (possibly 1792). Marriage licence at the Borthwick Institute, York for John Goodworth of Eastrington and Anne Moor of Hatfield, dated 26 May 1792. John is 23+, a bachelor. Anne is 23+, a spinster. But no record of a marriage in Eastrington, at least in the Bishop's Transcripts. Interesting also that another John Goodworth had two daughters in Eastrington a few years later, given that there is no other apparent connection between Goodworth and Eastrington. Ann MOORE

She appears to have died by 1881, when Charles is a farmer of 74 acres in Mattersea Abbey, Mattersea, Nottingham with wife Emma and 9 children. The first three children are Catherine (b. about 1865 in "Park Lane, York(shire)", Samuel, b. about 1867 Mattersea, and Broughton, b. about 1869 Mattersea. Reasonable to assume from their names that these at least are children of Ann Maria. Charles and Emma (BELL?) may have married bmd Jun 1874 East Retford
